Travis Kelce scored touchdown during Chiefs vs. Broncos
Travis Kelce made franchise history after scoring his 84th career touchdown at the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Denver Broncos on Sunday. The Chiefs’ tight end is now tied with Priest Holmes’ record for the most total touchdowns in team history this weekend.
The epic touchdown happened during the fourth quarter of the game when Kelce received a 10-yard pass from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The TD marked the Chiefs’ first lead and ended up becoming the team’s final score in the game.
Despite their 22-19 loss to the Denver Broncos, the Kansas City Chiefs celebrated Kelce’s remarkable TD record. Speaking with ESPN, Mahomes had nothing but praise for the tight end. “He deserves it, the work he puts in every day,” the QB said of Kelce,
“He’s a leader, man. It just speaks to the person that he is that he’s able to go out there and break that record. That was a great play in a big moment in the game. That’s when he usually makes his big plays,” he added.
However, Kelce was not happy with the day’s outcome and refused to celebrate his record-breaking touchdown. “If you were going to ask me about the [Chiefs’] record, I could care less about that right now,” Kelce stated. The disappointed Chiefs star did not make any further statements before he took his leave.
Kelce had been a formidable presence in the NFL since 2013, beginning his professional career with the Kansas City Chiefs. In addition to his recent TD record, Kelce also holds the Chiefs’ franchise records for receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.
