The 2024 Mean Girls reboot is making its way to the streaming platform, Netflix. Directed by Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr., the movie was based on the blockbuster 2004 movie, Mean Girls. It came out in theaters in January 2024 and featured Angourie Rice, Reneé Rapp, Christopher Briney, and Avantika Vandanapu.
2024’s Mean Girls reboot movie to stream on Netflix
According to a recent report, the Mean Girls reboot is set to arrive on Netflix very soon.
As per What’s on Netflix, the 2024 film will land on the streaming platform on December 5, 2025.
Mean Girls 2024 was the reboot of the 2004 cult classic. The latter originally featured Lindsay Lohan, Tina Fey, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert, and more. While the original movie received a good reception from both critics and audiences, the reboot seemed to have a mixed response.
Mean Girls 2024 recorded an opening of $28 million and made a collection of $104 million globally, according to Box Office Mojo. On the other hand, the original movie made about $130 million at the box office.
The reboot also got a score of 68 percent on the Tomatometer and 62 percent on the Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes. These numbers are not on par with the original, which was critically acclaimed. Meanwhile, Mean Girls (2004) had a score of 84 percent on Tomatometer and 66 percent on Popcornmeter.
The 2024 reboot movie was written by Fey, who played the role of Ms. Norbury in the original. Moreover, Lohan, who portrayed the character of Cady in the original, made a cameo appearance in the reboot. Talking about reuniting with Lohan for the reboot, Fey said in January 2024, “I thought it might be nice to have her come kind of late in the movie when you’re like, you’ve so much forgotten that you’re looking for cameos.”
