Justin Baldoni Claims Blake Lively Improvised Unscripted Kiss

Justin Baldoni has alleged that Blake Lively improvised an unscripted kiss during the filming of It Ends with Us. The allegation, introduced amid the pair’s ongoing legal battle, challenges Lively’s prior claims that Baldoni initiated an improvised on-set kiss. The new development has sparked renewed interest in the case.

Newly revealed allegations about the filming of It Ends with Us have escalated the legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

In a recent filing, Baldoni’s attorneys submitted footage from a deleted hospital scene, arguing that the clip shows Lively initiating a kiss that was not part of the screenplay. The minute-long video, recorded in May 2023, shows the actors performing a brief intimate moment. Baldoni’s team states that Lively introduced the kiss while overseeing the setup of the scene, saying “she herself added to the script, in which her character kissed Baldoni’s character in every take, although there was no kiss in the script.” (via PEOPLE)

The claim directly counters Lively’s allegations that Baldoni inserted unscripted kissing during production. In her sexual-harassment and retaliation lawsuit, Lively has maintained that such incidents occurred before the production paused for the Hollywood strikes. Later, the actress insisted on returning to set with conditions, including a ban on improvised kissing.

Baldoni’s team now argues the video shows that Lively herself engaged in an unscripted kiss prior to that meeting.

Meanwhile, in their January 2025 complaint, Baldoni’s legal team asserted all pre-strike kiss scenes were scripted. His lawyers now say the newly released hospital footage was shot before the strike and includes a kiss that was not written.

Baldoni and his team have reportedly requested Judge Lewis J. Liman to rule in their favor without a trial. However, a ruling has not yet been issued. The matter is scheduled for trial in March 2026, with testimony expected from both Lively and Baldoni.
