Kevin Federline Responds to Britney Spears Slamming His Memoir

Kevin Federline addressed the reaction to his memoir “You Thought You Knew” in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. The book details his longstanding and complex relationship with ex-wife Britney Spears, who publicly disagreed with portions of its content and the allegations included. Federline said the writing process contributed to ongoing reconciliation efforts. He added that if speaking openly results in him being viewed as “the bad guy,” he accepts that outcome.

Kevin Federline claims he and Britney Spears ‘have been living a lie’

According to E! News, Britney Spears is distancing herself from the public conversation surrounding Kevin Federline’s forthcoming memoir, “You Thought You Knew”. In a statement issued on Oct. 14, her representative said the singer does not want to be “dragged into Kevin’s circus,” responding to allegations Federline makes in the book about his concerns for Spears and their sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.

The rep stated that “he and others are profiting off her,” adding that the situation comes after the end of Federline’s child-support payments. The statement emphasized that Spears’ priority remains her children and their well-being, noting that she has already shared her personal experiences in her own memoir, “The Woman in Me”.

Federline, who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007, has publicly expressed hope that the turmoil surrounding the memoir will ultimately lead to improved communication between Spears and their sons. He told ET that he believes “there’s light at the end of the tunnel,” though he acknowledged the process “is gonna take time.”

According to Page Six, Spears has rejected Federline’s portrayal, calling it inaccurate and asserting that she has faced “constant gaslighting.” She said she has “always pleaded and screamed” for a relationship with her sons and urged people not to rely on “tabloids” to form opinions about her mental health or private life.

Meanwhile, in his interview with ET, Federline responded to Spears’ criticism by saying, “I’m sorry that she feels that way, but that’s not it,” claiming that they “have been living a lie”.
