Chicago Fire‘s Violet Mikami has been through the wringer when it comes to love, heartbreaks, almost-relationships, and some complicated romances. Now, actor Hanako Greensmith is opening up about who she thinks was actually Violet’s perfect match.
Hanako Greensmith says Hawkins would’ve been Violet’s ‘Prince Charming’ in Chicago Fire
On the One Chicago podcast, Hanako Greensmith didn’t hesitate when she was asked who Violet’s best love interest was. She quickly brushed off two of Violet’s biggest romances without a second thought.
Fans may have shipped Violet and Sam Carver hard, but Greensmith doesn’t see him as an ideal match. She said Carver just wasn’t a realistic match, especially with their hot-and-cold dynamic, his time in rehab, and then him moving to Denver instead of fighting for the relationship.
She also wasn’t feeling Violet’s short-lived fling with Flynn, the lawyer who pushed her toward med school and later sparked more drama than romance. “I don’t think Flynn was right for her,” she said.
According to her, dating is basically trial and error: you meet people, see what works, and learn from what doesn’t.
Greensmith also revealed who she thinks was truly the perfect match for Violet, Evan Hawkins. “I think the Prince Charming of it all.” His death left a massive hole in Violet’s life, one no one else has been able to fill.
As Greensmith put it, it’s been really hard for her to find anyone who matches what Hawkins had. “I think it’s just been really hard for her to find anyone that will match the almost Disney essence of who he was.”
Still, showrunner Andrea Newman told Soaps.com that Violet might not be single for much longer. She explained that Violet isn’t out here looking for love, but that’s when love shows up uninvited.
In Season 14, Violet starts connecting with a fresh face, firefighter Sal Vasquez. First, they connect during a ride-along, then they get even more comfortable while hanging out at Molly’s. Whether this turns into a full-blown romance or just a slow-burning flirt, the spark is definitely there.
