IShowSpeed’s dog’s name has got the fans talking
IShowSpeed recently shared a video on social media, revealing that his dog “N***a” turned 2 years old. He showed the dog its birthday cake, a red cake with yellow frosting, and orange bolt and white paw decorations. The cake had the texts “Happy Birthday” and “N***a” etched on the top and front portions, respectively.
Speed tried to feed the dog small bits of the cake, but the dog did not eat them. In response, he jokingly asked in a sad tone, “You don’t like the cake?” The dog soon ran away from the table and onto the road. Speed and his dog then had a short race, which Speed won.
The name of Speed‘s dog generated numerous fan reactions, as many could not believe that the internet personality named his dog after a highly sensitive term.
“Naming a black dog Nigga is diabolical,” a user commented on X (formerly Twitter).
One fan jokingly suggested that the dog could not believe its own name and therefore thought the birthday cake was meant for Speed. They wrote, “Dog thinks this cake is for speed cause he aint believing that this is his name.”
Meanwhile, another user joked that Speed’s dog’s name was the nickname of their own dog.
IShowSpeed adopted N***a in January 2024, one year after revealing that his previous dog had died. He shared the adoption on a YouTube livestream, where he visited a pet store and played with different dogs before deciding which one to adopt. He ultimately chose the black-and-white furred dog seen in the video above.
Although Speed generated controversy by giving his dog an inappropriate name, he caused further debate by picking unconventional names for his white and black cats. He named his white cat “Master” and his black cat “Slave.” Considering how the names highlighted historical inequality between black and white people, fans deemed the choices “outrageous.”
