Debra Messing draws criticism for social media post about Zohran Mamdani

Debra Messing drew the attention of netizens when she reshared a post by @thepersianjewess on her Instagram story. The post that she shared featured an edited ballot that listed two candidates. The candidates’ names read, “A Democrat. Just a Democrat,” and “An actual communist jihadist. A literal Karl Marx-quoting, America-hating jihadist.”

The original post was captioned, “This isn’t just a mayoral race. It’s the battle for Democracy itself. New York City, make the right choice. Vote for [Andrew] Cuomo, Vote for NYC, Vote for Democracy.”

Many hit back at Messing for calling Zohran Mamdani a jihadist, a term often used to describe Islamic extremists and terrorists.

Multiple reactions on social media platforms like X called out Messing for her posts. “The Debra Messing meltdown is in full swing. An embarrassing loser,” one user wrote. “Debra Messing has posted 91 Instagram stories in the past 24 hours. Not an exaggeration. I think Zohran has actually broken her brain, although it wasn’t in great shape before this mayoral election anyway. Fascinating, albeit kinda scary to watch though,” another user wrote.

Yet another user added, “I hope #DebraMessing understands that from this moment forward, she is in the James Woods, Kevin Sorbo, Scott Baio wing of actors with vile political and bigoted opinions.”

American citizens have made it clear to Debra Missing that they are standing by Mamdani. The 34-year-old politician has divided citizens for quite a while, but his popularity continues to soar.
