Jennifer Aniston is weighing in on today’s podcast boom, and she’s not entirely sold on it. In a new interview, the 56-year-old actor said the flood of easily launched podcasts has noticeably changed how people communicate, and not always for the better. Aniston compared the trend to the sudden cultural obsession with superfoods.
Jennifer Aniston claims anybody do a podcast
In a recent interview with ELLE, Jennifer Aniston shared her insights on the podcast culture that has been gaining momentum in contemporary times. “It’s like kale or quinoa,” she said. “It’s the new thing.” The “Friends” alum recalled someone telling her, “The good news is anybody can do a podcast, and the bad news is anybody can do a podcast.”
She explained that while podcasts have opened doors for new voices, they’ve also contributed to a growing lack of meaningful exchange. “We all need to listen to both sides. That’s what we’ve lost,” Aniston said. “We’ve lost communication, we’ve lost sitting across a table and having a discussion that is productive, learning from each other,” the star continued, adding, “It feels like everyone is sort of stuck in their positions and it’s my way or the highway, and that’s just not how the world works.”
On a different note, Aniston also opened up about her relationship with boyfriend Jim Curtis, praising the hypnotherapist. “The Morning Show” lead star said, “Hypnotism is one of the many things that he does,” sharing that Curtis has been “quite extraordinary, and helps many, many people.” She also said, “He’s very special, very normal, and very kind, and wants to help people heal, move through their trauma and stagnation into clarity.” Further adding, Aniston thought that “it’s a beautiful thing to commit your life to.”
Her comments came just days after she made her romance with Curtis Instagram official. On November 2, Aniston celebrated Curtis’s 50th birthday by posting a black-and-white photo of the two embracing. “Happy birthday, my love,” she wrote, expressing that she feels “cherished.”
