Kim Kardashian might not have passed the California bar exam, but according to legal experts, her experience is anything but rare. Several attorneys claim that even the most dedicated candidates often stumble on their first or second attempt, and that does not make them any less capable. As such, they insist that it is Kardashian’s determination that really counts.
Kim Kardashian’s bar results are kind of commonplace, claims legal experts
Colleen Joyce, CEO of Lawyer.com, spoke to the Daily Mail about Kim Kardashian’s bar exam. Joyce said, “The California Bar is often called the Mount Everest of bar exams – not just because of how much material it covers but because of the depth of thinking it requires.” The state notoriously has one of the country’s lowest pass rates. This is particularly relevant for repeat test-takers and can dip below 25 percent.
Attorney Golnoush Goharzad, who has practiced law in California for nearly two decades, told the outlet that the test is challenging. Goharzad said, “Every strong lawyer I know has failed it once.” She added, “Most California lawyers have probably failed it at least once,” noting that California’s distinctive legal codes make the exam especially complex, with laws that often differ from federal ones.
Another lawyer, Mark Childress, echoed that advice-driven approach. Childress explained that “Even the most promising candidates can struggle with test-day nerves or the exam format,” assuring, “This is not a reflection of intelligence or ability – it’s just a hurdle many excellent lawyers have had to overcome.”
Hence, attorneys agreed that Kardashian’s openness about falling short helps dismiss the stigma. Childress stated, “Her transparency validates the struggles of others,” noting, “It reminds aspiring lawyers that setbacks are part of the process.”
Kardashian confirmed in a recent post that she did not pass the bar exam, but said she’s far from quitting. She wrote, “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar,” adding, “Falling short isn’t failure — it’s fuel.” As Goharzad put it, “Advocacy is not a bar number — it’s a passion and a dedication to justice,” and “Kim seems to have both.”
