King Charles is not slowing down, even after advisors, including Prince William, told him he should. The monarch, who is continuing his treatment for cancer, reportedly brushed off his son William’s suggestion that he take things easier. Instead of heeding him, according to royal author Robert Jobson, the king gave his eldest son a blunt, two‑word answer: “Think again.”
King Charles responded this way after Prince William asked him to slow down, according to a source
The Mirror reported that in Robert Jobson’s new book “The Windsor Legacy: A Royal Dynasty,” he wrote that Prince William privately asked King Charles to follow doctors’ advice and loosen his schedule. Although Charles has reduced public appearances, he reportedly still insists on handling daily duties from the palace. In that, he reads state papers, holds meetings, and stays across national matters.
William’s request was a result of concern instead of confrontation. He has observed the pressure his father has taken on since his diagnosis, and friends claimed he is worried the monarch is pushing himself too hard. With his own wife, Princess Catherine, focusing on recovery and their children at home, William reportedly just wanted both of them to slow down and take time to heal.
However, the king’s response showed just how deep his sense of duty goes. At 75, Charles has spent his entire adult life preparing for the throne, and stepping back simply does not look like an option in his mind. Still, Jobson noted that the exchange did not cause a rift. If anything, the father and the son have come closer through this difficult year, with the king even offering support to his daughter-in-law behind closed doors.
Charles’ curt reply to William may sound harsh on the surface, but it fits his reputation as a disciplined, unwavering, and proud monarch of his country. Even in the middle of treatment, the king put his duty first.
