Author discusses why Queen Elizabeth believed Prince William would be a ‘celebrity’ monarch

Queen Elizabeth reportedly thought that her grandson, Prince William, would become a “celebrity monarch.” Robert Jobson, a royal author, has talked about the reason behind the late Queen’s belief in his new book, as reported by the Daily Mail. In the book, the author mentioned the late Queen’s final engagement in July 2022 in England. She attended the official opening of a new 29-bedroom facility at Thames Hospice by Bray Lake, in Berkshire.

The event was reportedly quite significant for Queen Elizabeth, and she allegedly “didn’t want to let anyone down.” However, on the day of the event, she was reportedly feeling “particularly frail.” Thus, the late Queen allegedly asked her grandson, Prince William, if he could make an appearance at the ceremony on her behalf. However, as written by the royal author, Robert Jobson, the Prince of Wales failed to accept the Queen’s request.

Per the news outlet, the royal author penned, “William’s schedule might well have accommodated this last-minute duty.” The author continued, “But he cried off, citing fatherly duties.” Robert Jobson further wrote how the Queen felt at that moment. The author wrote, “This left his grandmother not only disappointed but irritated.”

The author also discussed the Queen’s reaction to the Prince of Wales’s response to her request. “She is said to have scoffed, ‘Isn’t that what nannies and policemen are for?'” the author added.
