Chicago rapper Adamn Killa was briefly detained after interrupting a police traffic stop in downtown Chicago, an encounter that quickly went viral on social media.

The incident took place on Monday, November 10, when the rapper approached officers near East Randolph and Michigan Avenue and told them, “Arrest me, daddy.” According to the Chicago Sun-Times, police handcuffed the rapper for allegedly interfering with official duties and held him for about 20 minutes before releasing him without charges.

Shortly after his brief detainment, the rapper posted a video of the encounter online, writing “They listened” on the video, set to his song “Fall On.” Speaking to The Chicago Sun-Times, he said he immediately resumed filming soon after being released. The rapper said, “I got out and I went and made more ‘Arrest me, daddy’ videos right after.” However, he added that he would avoid interrupting active police operations going forward.

Adamn Killa, who has over 1 million TikTok followers, is known for his viral videos in which he approaches police officers and playfully dares them to arrest him. In these clips, he often puts his hands behind his head or back while delivering the now-famous line. Several of his fans have also joined in the trend, recreating the videos across social platforms.

Despite the lighthearted tone of his content, the rapper has previously described some of his videos as a form of protest. He has said he used the same phrase during ICE raids in Chicago. He said, “How they be covering their face and s**t, I feel like in the future, they gonna look at them like how they looked at, like the Nazi soldiers. Because they know what they be doing wrong.”
