Dancing with the Stars’ Tom Bergeron recalls meeting Bruce Willis
On November 11, DWTS Season 34 celebrated the show’s 20th birthday in a special episode. Among the many, former host Tom Bergeron and Season 20 winner Rumer Willis returned to the show for the celebration. While Bergeron served as the judge, Rumer joined the dance floor with Dylan Efron in a relay contest.
After the two wrapped up their performance, Bergeron addressed Rumer and recalled the unforgettable moment when he met her father, actor Bruce Willis. “One of the highlights [of] your season was meeting your dad,” the AFV host shared. “And I just want to send my warm wishes to you, your dad, and your family,” he added. Bergeron’s wishes for the veteran actor come as a result of his health condition. In February 2023, Bruce’s family shared that the Die Hard actor was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and will be stepping away from acting.
Since the announcement, Bruce and his family have largely kept their life private as the actor undergoes treatment. However, earlier this year, Rumer posted on Instagram, hinting at her father’s worsened condition.
Back on the show, Rumer partnered up with the current season’s contestant, Dylan Efron. The two dances in a relay round against Kaitlyn Bristowe and Andy Richter. The pair danced to a Viennese waltz that earned them glaring feedback from all the judges. As a result, Efron had a perfect score of 42 out of 42, tying him with Whitney Leavitt.
By the end of the show, Andy Richter and Emma Slater were eliminated after scoring a total of 29 points.
