Michael Jackson’s Daughter Paris Has a Perforated Septum From Drug Use

Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris Jackson, opened up about the lasting impact of her past involving substance abuse. The 27-year-old model and musician shared that her previous drug use caused a “perforated septum.”

Paris Jackson addressed fans who may have noticed something unusual about her breathing. “I realized I never addressed this and it can sometimes be very noticeable,” she stated in a video reshared via a TikTok fan page on November 9. “I have a really loud whistle because you can hear it when I breathe through my nose and that is because I have what is called a perforated septum.”

Jackson used a flashlight to show the hollow space inside her nose and clarified that a perforated septum is “slightly different” from a deviated septum. As for the cause of her own condition, Michael Jackson’s daughter admitted, “It’s exactly where you think it’s from.” She then added, “Don’t do drugs kids. Or do, I mean, everyone is going to have the experience they need to have with life. I’m not going to tell anyone what to do. I don’t recommend it because it ruined my life.”

For more context, a perforated septum is a hole in the cartilage or bone separating the nostrils, often leading to a dip in the nose bridge. The condition can result from drug misuse, autoimmune diseases, chemical exposure, injuries, or infections. (via Cleveland Clinic)

The musician revealed she has been dealing with the condition since she was “about” 20 years old. While it doesn’t pose a serious health risk, she said it’s been challenging, especially during recording sessions. However, she said she does not plan to undergo any surgical repair. “You have to take pills when you do a surgery that gnarly,” she explained. “And I don’t want to f**k with that.” She added that she’s “almost six years sober,” so avoiding surgery protects her recovery from any potential triggers.
