Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul Recalls How Daughter Broke His Heart With 1 Word

Aaron Paul, the Emmy-winning star we all loved as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad, just opened up about a change he’s making as a dad. The actor, known for being super family-oriented, admitted he’s trying to kick a habit most parents struggle with: being glued to his phone. In a heartfelt moment, Paul shared how a sweet interaction with his daughter, Story Annabelle, made him realize it was time to unplug and be fully present for your kids.

In a recent interview, Aaron Paul opened up about a moment that totally changed his perspective on parenting. He shared how one day, while replying to an email, his daughter, Annabelle, ran in to ask him something.

Paul was finishing an email on his phone, but when he finally looked up, she’d already wandered off to play alone.

Realizing how often he might be missing out, Paul put down his phone and went to apologize. “I told her I wanted to make a pact that Daddy wouldn’t be on his phone when he’s with you anymore,” he said. Her simple, one-word response, “Really?” broke his heart.

He said that his words surprised his daughter so much that he was heartbroken seeing her response. “Then she jumped up and threw her arms around me like she won the biggest prize,” Paul recalled.

“No, you’re going to get left behind,“ Paul said. ”You choose whether the technology controls you. You should control the technology.“

His words resonated with a lot of parents trying to find that balance between screen time and family time. By setting this new rule for himself, the Breaking Bad star hopes to show his daughter what being truly present means.

“We owe it to our kids to at least give it a shot,“ Paul shared.
