Soon, TODAY’s Craig Melvin brought up War of the Worlds, Dakota Fanning’s 2005 film with Tom Cruise. He asked her about the actor sending her a pair of shoes every year for her birthday. “Yeah, he sends me beautiful shoes. It’s a tradition that started, I think, on my 12th birthday,” Fanning shared.
The 31-year-old continued to explain how she loved shoes and had just started fitting into adult-sized shoes at the time. Expressing her excitement about shoes back in the day, Fanning shared how Cruise has kept the tradition going for 20 years now. “He’s got good taste,” she said when discussing the kind of shoes she gets from the Mission: Impossible star.
Moreover, The Equalizer 3 actress admitted to using the pairs she receives. She revealed, “But I’ll keep them forever. It’s such a great memory, and it’s a way that he checks in with me every year. It’s really generous.”
