Michelle Obama Reveals Grim but Practical Advice for Her Daughters

Michelle Obama recently opened up about her daughters and her late mother. On Wednesday, the former First Lady attended a NYC event, where she talked about her new book, “The Look.” While discussing the content, she recalled the teachings of her mom, Marian Robinson. Reportedly, this was something Robinson had been preparing Obama for since she was 10.

Michelle Obama told her daughters they don’t need her

Michelle Obama shares two daughters, Malia and Sasha, with former U.S. President Barack Obama. Recently, she talked about her kids at People Inc.’s exclusive in-person event in New York City. While discussing her new book, “The Look,” she revealed that there’s one teaching that she learned from her mother and would like to pass down to her children.

The author revealed that her mom, Marian Robinson, had been preparing her and her brother, Craig Robinson, for the time when she wouldn’t be with them. Allegedly, Marian had been teaching her kids since Obama was 10 years old. While she didn’t understand her mother then, but now discovered the reason.

“What she was doing was letting us know that she loved us, but that we could live life with and without her, and I understand that now as a parent,” Obama said. Her mother passed away at the age of 86 last year. She reportedly took care of the elder during her final days and realized that Marian was not “done living.”

Although she left Obama, the latter didn’t forget her teachings. She followed it as she raised two daughters herself. “I want my daughters to know, ‘I love you, you love me, but you don’t need me. You know everything you need to know to be successful,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Obama has been busy promoting her new book, “The Look,” which was released on November 4. In it, she opened up about the journey of her style evolution from the First Lady to life after the White House.
