Fallon then asked, “Where were you when you got the call for this?” Bailey revealed that he received the call while starring in William Shakespeare’s Richard II, and “hollowing” himself out for the role. The talk show host fished out a photo to corroborate Bailey’s story.
The host then placed Bailey’s Sexiest Man Alive cover story and his “hollowing” photo side by side, leaving the audience in splits. The Fellow Travelers star revealed, “I was in the zone. And you go slightly mad when you’re doing Richard II. So, the only thing madder than doing Richard II was to be invited into this.”
Furthermore, Bailey thanked PEOPLE magazine for the honor and praised the inclusivity. He revealed, “I’m sort of thrilled PEOPLE magazine have bestowed this honor on someone who can really cherish the value of a sexy man.”
