Robert Englund receives a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce presented Englund with the 2,826th star. The ceremony took place around Halloween, and the time felt oddly fitting. Englund delivered a short speed and ended with his iconic line saying, “Trick or f**king treat!”
Several friends and collaborators were present at the ceremony, and they spoke about the actor’s work ethic and the care he invested in the role, making it iconic. Robert Englund starred in ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ with actress Nancy Thompson. She praised his preparation and attention to detail.
Thompson mentioned how unsettling it was to look at him in the costume. She also talked about a few behind-the-scenes moments. She said, “The take goes along and Robert Englund raises his glove, and he says, ‘This is God.’ It was blasphemous. It was hideous. It was so evil… sent chills up every spine in that back alley, and, for the first time, I realized, ‘holy s‑‑‑, I’m in a slasher movie.'”
The ceremony also seated director Eli Roth. He talked about how Robert Englund brought personality to the Freddy Krueger character. He also praised the actor’s ability to find the human side of a monstrous part. Englund has since appeared on various projects of the same genre, including Stranger Things, Urban Legend, and The Goldbergs.
