One of the most underappreciated sci-fi movies of 2025, featuring Robert Pattinson and Mark Ruffalo, and written and directed by South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon Ho, will soon start streaming on Prime Video. Mickey 17 takes place in 2050 and revolves around a man who flees from an immensely powerful loan shark and ends up in a space colony. There, he is cloned every time he dies while doing his dangerous job.
Mickey 17 to begin streaming on Prime Video in November
Mickey 17 will begin streaming on Prime Video on November 26, 2025. The movie originally had its world premiere at Leicester Square on February 13, 2025, before debuting in US theaters on March 7, 2025.
While Mickey 17 received a lukewarm response at the box office, it garnered mostly positive reviews from critics. It currently has a 77% approval rating on the review aggregating site Rotten Tomatoes, after 358 reviews.
Bong Joon Ho’s last movie before Mickey 17 was 2019’s Parasite. It won four Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film. The black comedy thriller was also a considerable success at the box office.
In ComingSoon’s review, Mickey 17 has received a six out of 10 rating, which, per the standard of the site, denotes that the movie is “decent.” The review reads, “This movie is very different from Parasite, often echoing more of Bong’s other films like Snowpiercer and Okja. He’s swinging for the fences and having a blast with this movie, and I’ve got to give it to him for that, even if Mickey 17 isn’t the best we’ve seen from the esteemed filmmaker.”
Besides Robert Pattinson and Mark Ruffalo, the cast of Mickey 17 includes Naomi Ackie as Nasha, Toni Collette as Ylfa, Steven Yeun as Timo, Patsy Ferran as Dorothy, Cameron Britton as Arkady, and Daniel Henshall as Preston. Notably, Bong Joon Ho developed the script from the 2022 sci-fi novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton.
