When most people think of Halloween, they picture candy, costumes, and pumpkins, but Jason Kelce, brother of Travis Kelce, has a different game plan. The former Eagles center, famous for his big personality both on and off the field, says his favorite October tradition is giving trick-or-treaters a good scare.
According to him, the love for scaring kids actually runs in the family. Jason’s dad, Ed Kelce, is also fond of scaring children, and as a father himself, he believes in the tradition.

In a recent clip from Not Gonna Lie With Kylie Kelce, Jason Kelce couldn’t hide his excitement about Halloween. The retired NFL star laughed as he admitted, “Not gonna lie, I love Halloween, but not for the candy. I just really enjoy scaring kids. It’s one of my great pleasures in life.” He even joked that he tries to pull pranks on his children whenever he gets the chance.
Jason said it doesn’t take much to spook his kids, just a simple ghost noise, usually does the trick. Though he admits the fun doesn’t last forever. “Eventually, they don’t get terrified.” His wife, Kylie, backed him up, saying the father of four wasn’t lying and their little ones get scared pretty easily. She even admitted she managed to jump-scare the 37-year-old once herself.
The former NFL pro also explained why he gets such a kick out of it, saying it’s good to feel a little fear. In this civilized society that we live in, we don’t really get scared very often.
Earlier on the New Heights podcast, Jason Kelce told his brother how being a dad has completely changed his approach to Halloween costumes. He said he now lets his daughters take the lead, matching his outfit to whatever theme they choose. This year, he’s dressing up as Kristoff because Ellie, Benny, and Wyatt are all going as Elsa. Meanwhile, he teased, his wife Kylie’s costume will be revealed later in the week.
