Running Point Season 2 adds Ray Romano to cast
According to a recent report by Deadline, Ray Romano is officially taking over the role of Norm Stinson, a basketball wizard in hiding who decides to team up with Kate Hudson’s Isla to rediscover his passion for the game. While the team behind Running Point had originally recruited Robert Townsend for the part, Romano is now replacing the comedy veteran, with reshoots currently underway.
Created by Elaine Ko, Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen, Running Point made its debut on Netflix on February 27, 2025. The sports comedy-drama revolves around the misadventures of Isla Gordon, played by Kate Hudson, who decides to ditch her reckless ways and turn her life around after inheriting her family’s pro basketball team. Nevertheless, the Los Angeles Waves’ president soon discovers that running a sports team is not as simple and glamorous as it sounds.
Running Point Season 2 will not only introduce Romano as Hudson’s on-court partner but will also feature Uche Agada and Justin Theroux as series regulars. The additional cast for the follow-up season of the show includes Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman, Jay Ellis, Max Greenfield, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Roberto Sanchez, and Dane DiLiegro.
David Stassen continues his reign as Running Point’s showrunner in Season 2, while also serving as an executive producer alongside Kaling, Barinholtz, Hudson, Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss, and Linda Rambis. At the time of writing, Netflix has yet to announce an official release date for the second season.
