According to a new rumor, the first trailer for the highly anticipated horror sequel Scream 7 might come out online sooner than expected. The Scream franchise is one of the most iconic entries in the slasher genre. The first Scream movie came out in 1996, and since then, these movies and the associated TV show have heavily influenced pop culture. Scream 7 is directed by Kevin Williamson, the writer of the original film.
When the first Scream 7 trailer could release online
Industry scooper Daniel Richtman recently claimed on Patreon that the first trailer for Scream 7 will debut online on Thursday, October 30, right before Halloween. While there is no official confirmation on the subject, the date seems like a potential choice given the themes and tone of the franchise.
Guy Busick penned the screenplay for Scream 7 from a story he developed with James Vanderbilt. The plot of the movie remains unclear, but speculations about the film’s story have been circulating for a while. There are unconfirmed claims that say that the opening scene takes place in Woodsboro, before the narrative moves to Pine Grove. Scream fans are likely familiar with Woodsboro, a fictional California town that appears multiple times in the franchise.
The cast of Scream 7 includes Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin, and Roger L. Jackson as the voice of Ghostface. Some of the other members of the cast are Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, McKenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp.
Horror legend Wes Craven helmed the first Scream movie from a script by Williamson. Craven subsequently directed Scream 2, Scream 3, and Scream 4, which came out in 1997, 2000, and 2011, respectively. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett took over the directorial duties for 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI. A Scream TV series aired on MTV for two seasons from 2015 to 2016 and on VH1 for one more season in 2019.
Scream 7 is scheduled to debut in theaters on February 27, 2026.
