Lily Allen has broken her silence on her split with Stranger Things star David Harbour. The British singer and actress got candid about her latest song lyrics that reference the separation.

Lily Allen comments on breakup amid David Harbour split

Speaking with Interview Magazine, Lily Allen opened up about her latest album, West End Girl, and its connection to her recent split with David Harbour.

During the conversation, interviewer Mel Ottenberg asked Allen if the album, which seemingly draws heavily from the breakdown of her marriage, is a part of her “revenge tour.” The singer confirmed, “It isn’t. I mean, I wrote this record in 10 days in December, and I feel very differently about the whole situation now.”

She further added, “We all go through breakups and it’s always f****** brutal. But I don’t think it’s that often that you feel inclined to write about it while you’re in it.”

Allen went on to clarify, “That’s what’s fun about this record; it’s viscerally like going through the motions. At the time, I was really trying to process things, and that’s great in terms of the album, but I don’t feel confused or angry now. I don’t need revenge.”

The “Smile” singer also confirmed that West End Girl is “based on truth and some of it is fantasy.” In a separate interview with British Vogue, Allen stated, “There are things that are on the record that I experienced within my marriage, but that’s not to say that it’s all gospel. It is inspired by what went on in the relationship.”

Lily Allen and David Harbour began their relationship in 2019 and made their red carpet debut at the 26th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The couple tied the knot in September 2020. This year, shortly after the release of West End Girl on October 24, 2025, Allen confirmed that they had called it quits.
