Former Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign reportedly sought support from pop star Taylor Swift and her fiancé, NFL player Travis Kelce, but both declined. In ABC News journalist Jonathan Karl’s upcoming book “Retribution,” Harris’ team made “increasingly desperate” attempts to boost momentum in the 2024 presidential race, but it was of no avail.
Travis Kelce denied Kamala Harris’ offer to join podcast despite Taylor Swift’s endorsement — report
According to the Daily Mail, Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign reached out to NFL star Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce to appear on their popular “New Heights” podcast during the 2024 election cycle. However, the brothers turned down the offer.
As per political journalist Jonathan Karl’s forthcoming book “Retribution,” which has been obtained by the Daily Mail, Harris’ team approached the Kelce brothers as part of an effort to connect with younger voters and energize the campaign. Karl wrote that “the Kelce brothers, however, rejected the offer,” noting that their producer explained the show focuses on “sports, not politics.”
The reported outreach came after Kelce’s now-fiancée, pop icon Taylor Swift, publicly endorsed Harris. This was following the vice president’s debate performance against President Donald Trump on September 10. Karl described Swift’s endorsement as unexpected, writing that it “surprised the vice president’s campaign team.”
Meanwhile, as Harris prepared to address supporters at a watch party in Philadelphia’s Cherry Street Pier, her campaign decided to acknowledge the endorsement subtly. Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff exited the stage to Swift’s song “The Man,” a move that drew enthusiastic applause from the crowd.
Reportedly, Swift did not appear at any campaign events, despite expectations, particularly in Pennsylvania, the singer’s home state. Insiders report that Harris’ team made multiple attempts to contact Swift’s representative but ended up “never receiving an answer.” As of now, Swift has not publicly commented on why she chose not to participate in campaign activities.
