John Dickerson Becomes Latest Anchor To Exit CBS Network

News anchor John Dickerson announced his departure from CBS News soon after Bari Weiss became the editor-in-chief. After 16 years with CBS, he will leave the network at the end of the year. His exit marks a notable shift in the network’s editorial landscape.

John Dickerson is the latest anchor and correspondent to leave CBS

John Dickerson’s resignation stands as the latest high-profile departure from the network amid the new internal restructuring at CBS. Beginning his journey as a Face the Nation anchor on CBS, Dickerson will leave the network after 16 years. He worked in many roles, including chief political analyst, and currently serves as a co-anchor of CBS Evening News. In addition to posting an announcement on Instagram, Dickerson also reportedly broke the news to the CBS Evening News staff during a meeting.

His post on Instagram featured a few of his career highlights on CBS, including his first time on Face the Nation with Admiral Mike Mullen. He also shared pictures of himself meeting famous names like Stephen King, David Letterman, Jon Batiste, and Christian Bale, among others. In the caption of the post, he wrote, “At the end of this year, I will leave CBS, sixteen years after I sat in as Face the Nation anchor for the first time. I am extremely grateful for all that CBS gave me— the work, the audience’s attention and the honor of being a part of the network’s history— and I am grateful for my dear colleagues who’ve made me a better journalist and a better human. I will miss you.”

This announcment from Dickerson came just after Bari Weiss was named editor-in-chief of CBS News earlier this month. She reportedly aims to bring about a few changes in the evening news department as the recent ratings of the show have been suffering. Additionally, with the departure of Dickerson, she is looking for a new co-anchor for CBS Evening News.
