‘UFO’ in Russia Causes Scientist To React

A blazing green fireball lit up the night sky over Moscow on October 27, sparking speculation about UFOs and aliens. The event prompted even the Russian scientists to react. The vivid orb passed by the sky and was witnessed by hundreds of people. But no one could initially find a suitable explanation for the phenomenon, leading to many kinds of speculations.

Mysterious lights in Russia fuel UFO speculations

In viral footage on X and Telegram, a green orb can be seen flying across the sky, leaving behind a vivid, colorful tail. Its motion and speed are not consistent with those of objects commonly seen in the sky.

While witnesses began speculating fairly soon that the unidentified object could be an alien spaceship or the rise of AI, scientists dismissed such claims. Despite the object’s rather odd trajectory, look, and behavior, scientists were quick to debunk the theories circulating. Instead, they narrowed it down to being an artificial object.

Alexander Rodin, head of the UAV-related Project Activities at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, told TASS, “Judging by the video, the relatively slow speed and its significant slowdown at the end of the visible portion of the flight, as well as the green and yellow shades, rather point to its artificial origin.” Rodin added, “Apparently, it’s the so-called space debris, that is, a fragment of a satellite, a carrier rocket booster, or an upper stage.”

After the initial confusion, many started joking on social media that it was Green Lantern or Green Goblin flying across the sky. Either way, it seems that scientists have solved the mystery, and there is not much to look forward to in this regard.

Though this particular case of the Russian UFO has been debunked, there remains a broader debate about whether aliens exist, with numerous sightings that have not been disproved.
