Travis Kelce Unsure ‘How Long’ He Can Play After Record-Breaking Game

Travis Kelce delivered an outstanding performance during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Monday night victory over the Washington Commanders. In the third quarter of their 28-7 win, Kelce tied a record with former Chiefs player Priest Holmes for most touchdowns (83) in Chiefs history. Later, in a post-match interview, Kelce opened up about how much longer he thinks he can play the game for.

Travis Kelce says he is an ‘old lucky dog’ still being able to play the game

During a post-match interview with ESPN‘s Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter, Kelce opened up about his future in the league. When asked what it means to him to be the “head Chief” and “the guy who sets the culture” around the game, Kelce replied with light humor. He said, “I’m just the old lucky dog that’s still able to do this thing.” He further went on to mention how he still puts on the pads like he’s 15 years old and is loving every single bit of his journey.

Their Monday night game against the Washington Commanders saw Kelce score his 83rd regular-season touchdown as well as his 100th TD, including the playoff games. This record-breaking performance from the Chiefs’ tight end, whose contract ends with the current season, raised questions about how much longer he’ll stay in the game. During the interview, Kelce responded to a question about what his mindset is like around trying to stay “in the present.” As he was also reminded that there is not a lot of time left before his retirement from the sport, Kelce replied, “We’re cherishing every single one of these games, not knowing how long we’ll be able to do this. We’re living this dream [we saw] as a kid and enjoying this stuff every single week.”

The Kansas City Chiefs showed an outstanding performance recently, winning the last five out of six games. After starting the season 0-2, they now stand at 5-3, as they face the Buffalo Bills next.
