During their Monday Night Football game against the Washington Commanders, the Chiefs secured a 28-7 victory. This game that took place at Arrowhead Stadium also witnessed a great moment for Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce.
He tied the record for most regular season touchdowns with former Chiefs running back Priest Holmes. This 83rd TD of Kelce’s 13-year NFL career came when he caught a 10-yard touchdown strike from teammate Patrick Mahomes.
As Kelce celebrated his latest achievement, Mahomes picked up the ball for him. A clip of the moment has gone viral on social media. The caption of the clip posted on X (formerly Twitter) by the official NFL account reads, “Mahomes made sure to get TD No. 83 for Travis Kelce. Tied for the most in @Chiefs history.”
Additionally, this catch also marked Kelce’s 100th TD, including the playoffs. Mahomes, on the other hand, had a very impressive stat line as well. He ended the game having completed 25 of his 34 pass attempts for 299 yards and 3 touchdowns. Out of these, 6 completions went to Kelce, who finished the game with a team-high 99 yards and one touchdown (via Newsweek).
Post their Monday night win, the Chiefs now stand strong with five wins in their last six games. After a harsh start to the season, they now stand at 5-3, coming back from 0-2. In their next game, the AFC champions will go head-to-head with the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium facing league MVP Josh Allen.
