The cast of The Rainmaker will return for Season 2, which arrives on Peacock and USA Network in 2026. Created by Michael Seitzman and Jason Richman, the legal television series became one of the hit shows to air in 2025. The Rainmaker premiered with its first season on August 15 and wrapped up with its finale on October 17.
The Rainmaker creator wants to ‘completely wipe the slate clean in Season 2’
Peacock’s The Rainmaker is all set to come back with its Season 2 in 2026, as recently announced by USA Network.
Based on the eponymous 1995 novel by John Grisham, the series focuses on Milo Callaghan’s character, Rudy Baylor, taking up a legal battle against a big healthcare organization. Talking about his plans for Season 2, creator Michael Seitzman told TV Insider that he is contemplating whether he should make the characters from the first season return in the next part or not.
The veteran writer and producer said, “I have a lot of ideas for Season 2, but none of them have really calcified yet in my mind, and some of them include those characters, and some of them don’t. There’s a part of me that wonders if we just completely wipe the slate clean in Season 2, and the characters who are not in trouble come back, and the other characters who were in trouble, we treat that as backstory.”
Seitzman further shared that bringing back the characters from the first season to Season 2 is “a tricky thing,” but he has to think about it. Meanwhile, Milo Callaghan also shared his excitement. He stated, “I’m here for seven seasons, so let’s go. We’re always having conversations… I hope so. I hope we get the gang back together, and I hope we meet another adversary on the road, and I’m excited.”
While announcing the second season, Versant President Val Boreland conveyed, “The Rainmaker is returning for Season 2 on USA Network. Along with our brilliant showrunner Michael Seitzman and our partners at Lionsgate and Blumhouse, we’re thrilled to build on the momentum and deliver another compelling chapter of this gripping legal drama for our viewers.” The show garnered around 16 million viewers on its debut.
