Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test Has Surprising 5th Exit

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test threw fans a curveball when former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel unexpectedly tapped out early. The October 16 episode showed Manziel deciding to quit after facing the show’s brutal, military-style challenges, including intense endurance drills and tough mental tests designed to break even the strongest contestants.

Former NFL star Johnny Manziel leaves Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test?

Johnny Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner and former Cleveland Browns QB, became the fifth celebrity to bow out of Season 4 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.

During a brutal infiltration challenge, recruits had to crawl through tight, dirt-packed tunnels to reach a signal tower half a mile away. Leading a team that included Gia Giudice and Chanel Iman, the ex-QB hit a dead end and panicked. He told the directors, “I’m out,” and took off his armband, officially quitting the competition.

Manziel’s team didn’t manage to complete the challenge, leaving all three members short of the goal. Gia, one of his teammates, admitted she was shocked by the 32-year-old’s decision to quit. For Chanel, the task was likewise challenging, and she ended up “swallowing so much dirt” while crawling through the tunnels.

According to ENews, Johnny Manziel later reflected on his decision to quit, saying, “My biggest struggle has always been giving up at times.” He added, “Losing that battle in my head — that’s definitely been a weakness for me. You have to live with the choices you made, and there’s no going back to change anything now.”

Manziel isn’t the only one to tap out this season. There have been a few other exits, too. Teresa Giudice walked away voluntarily because of a personal issue, while Jussie Smollett had to leave after doctors pulled him due to breathing problems.

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, adapted from the British show SAS: Who Dares Wins, throws celebrities into extreme training scenarios, cutting out all fame and comfort. This season’s lineup includes Bachelorette alum Tyler Cameron, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore, and Olympic figure skater Tara Lipinski, all facing the grueling tests head-on.
