Reflecting on her six-year run as a daytime TV host, Rosie O’Donnell didn’t hold back when asked to name her best and worst guests. “One of the worst, who, I love the guy, but he’s not good on talk shows – Keanu Reeves,” she admitted, prompting gasps from the audience.
O’Donnell was quick to clarify that her comments weren’t mean-spirited. “He’s so sweet, he looks gorgeous, I love all his movies, but he would not answer a question,” she explained. However, recalling the awkward moment live on air, she said, “I’d say, ‘So, Keanu, how’s it going? How are you feeling?’ — ‘Good,’” she imitated in a low mumble.
With the clock ticking on live TV, O’Donnell recalled having to directly address the elephant in the room. “I finally said after three minutes, ‘You know, Keanu, it is a talk show. You have to talk!'” Despite the awkward start, she noted that Reeves did return to the show later and “got the hang of it,” showing there were no hard feelings. “He’s a a lovely man and a good-hearted guy, so I don’t wanna throw him under the bus.”
Now, Keanu Reeves has been showing up at one talk show after another and giving fans iconic quotes. Recently, he’s been busy promoting his new film, Good Fortune, directed by and also starring Aziz Ansari. In the movie, Reeves plays an angel named Gabriel, who has the ambition to be a more impactful guardian than the one he already is, which leads to philosophical comedy drama.
