Jeremy Allen White Shares if He Got To Use Bruce Springsteen’s Guitar

Jeremy Allen White, known for his role in the hit series The Bear, is currently promoting his upcoming film. What makes this project unique is that the actor will be portraying music legend Bruce Springsteen in his biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere. A great honor and an even greater responsibility, the film explores Springsteen’s journey in creating his groundbreaking 1982 album, Nebraska.

Bruce Springsteen gifted a guitar to Jeremy Allen White

The research phase of the biopic brought White and Springsteen together. They bonded over shared experiences and their love for music. To prepare for the role, White learned to play the guitar and studied Springsteen’s unique style, stage presence, and recording techniques.

Springsteen appreciated the actor’s dedication and passion. He gifted White a 1955 Gibson J-200 acoustic guitar — a close match to the one he used while recording Nebraska. The gesture made the gift especially meaningful. White expressed his excitement upon receiving the guitar and brought it home to practice Springsteen’s songs with his instructor, session guitarist JD Simo.

In an interview with BBC News, White was asked whether he got to use Springsteen’s guitar. He replied that the singer had arranged one specifically for him. White revealed that he personally performed all the songs in the biopic and that Springsteen consistently encouraged him, once even saying he sounded like him — a compliment the actor called the highest he could imagine. When asked about his favorite track, White said that “Reason to Believe,” the final song on Nebraska, is currently his favorite.

Praising White’s portrayal, Springsteen said, “You can’t fake that. You’ve either got that, or you don’t.” He admired the authenticity and emotional depth White brought to the role, calling his performance powerful and genuine. Director Scott Cooper said Deliver Me From Nowhere offers new insights into Springsteen’s life and will release on October 24, 2025.
