Jesse Palmer shared his thoughts on Carol’s abrupt departure from The Golden Bachelor. In the October 15 episode, just before the hometown visits, Carol began having doubts about her relationship with Mel, largely because she hadn’t had a one-on-one date with him yet. In the end, she admitted that while she cares for him, she doesn’t feel a strong connection. Before leaving, Carol expressed her hope of finding love again someday.
Jesse Palmer reacts to Carol’s departure from The Golden Bachelor
In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Palmer was asked about his thoughts on Carol giving up on her relationship with Mel too early and departing The Golden Bachelor. He replied, “I respect Carol for her decision. At the end of the day, it’s a personal decision for her — and she followed her heart.”
While evaluating her relationship with Mel, Carol thought that she didn’t know him enough to meet his family in his hometown. This is because the duo never got a one-on-one to talk about each other and build a strong connection. Therefore, she went straight to Mel to share her concerns, clarifying that although she has an interest in him, she just doesn’t feel the connection.
She told him, “I need to talk to you about something a little serious. There’s a couple things. I mean, I wanted to connect with you. I’m very interested in you. I really am. But I feel like we haven’t had a lot of conversation. I just feel like I’ve got my family at home, and then maybe not getting the one-on-one, I thought, ‘You know what? I don’t feel like you have that connection with me.” Revealing it to the cameras, she further added, “I think I need to be honest with him. I don’t think he’s my guy.”
She revealed that the decision to depart from the show was “hard,” as she really cared about him. Mel replied to her confession with “I respect that. I know you have to be true to yourself, yeah, and your feelings come first and your well-being.” (via PEOPLE)
