Ego Nwodim isn’t slowing down after leaving Saturday Night Live. The comedian and actress has announced her first post-SNL project, and it is a live performance as part of The Comedy Series at Lincoln Center Theater’s Claire Tow Theater in New York City this November.
Ego Nwodim to perform alongside Vir Das, Jerrod Carmichael, and Sam Jay in The Comedy Series
Ego Nwodim’s new project is her return to the stage, but this time in a more intimate, stand-up-driven format. The event, The Comedy Series, will run from November 19 through November 23, giving audiences a chance to experience evolving, unfiltered comedy in real time. Tickets will go on sale October 20 at 10 a.m. ET through the Lincoln Center Theater’s official website.
According to the organizers, The Comedy Series is designed to give performers “a chance for these artists to test boundaries, shape new material, and explore the space between humor and truth.” The lineup also includes comedy heavyweights Vir Das, Jerrod Carmichael, and Sam Jay, giving space to a diverse mix of styles and voices. “No two performances will be the same—because the creative process isn’t a straight line, and neither is this show. It’s comedy that’s evolving before your eyes,” the press release teases. (via Deadline)
For Nwodim, this post SNL project represents both a creative shift and a homecoming to her stand-up roots. She has been known for her sharp impressions and original characters during her seven seasons on Saturday Night Live.
In September, Nwodim shocked fans by announcing her exit when she was expected to return for SNL Season 51. “The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say goodnight,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “But after seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL. Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories, and that laughter, with me always.”
