Drew Barrymore Made Crew Members ‘Uncomfortable’ With Sniffing Feet Stunt, Sources Say

Drew Barrymore’s spontaneous on-air antics have long been part of her daytime charm, but her latest “feet-sniffing” stunt may have reportedly crossed a line for some of her colleagues. This comes after she sniffed her feet on-air.

Sources say Drew Barrymore is facing backlash over her feet stunt

On the October 6 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the host turned an ordinary hygiene discussion into one of the most talked-about moments of the week. During a segment titled “How Often Should You Wash Your Feet?” Barrymore decided to take off her shoes and smell her own feet before inviting co-hosts Ross Mathews and Sunny Anderson to join in.

The trio laughed through the bizarre segment as Anderson declared Barrymore’s feet smelled like “a whole lotta nothing,” and Mathews added, “Drew does not have stinky feet.” Barrymore then confirmed, “There’s no scent there whatsoever,” explaining she washes her feet just once a week.

While the moment went viral, not everyone behind the scenes found it funny. According to Shutter Scoop, crew members were left uneasy during the taping. “People were uncomfortable,” one staffer shared. “It might play as quirky on TV, but in person, it felt awkward. Nobody knew how to react.”

According to another producer, Barrymore’s high-energy spontaneity, which is usually a trademark of her warm, offbeat hosting style, occasionally “blurs workplace lines.” The source added, “Drew means well, but if anyone else behaved like that on camera, HR would probably step in.”

Furthermore, the report shared that producers have subtly encouraged Drew Barrymore to tone down some of her unpredictable moments. “Her charm is unpredictability,” one said. “She just has to remember there’s a fine line between playful and uncomfortable — and lately, she’s been toeing it.”

The foot-sniffing stunt followed a lighthearted exchange where Barrymore joked about washing habits. Even went on to question audience members who claimed they clean their feet daily.
