Putting long-time rumors to rest, YouTubers Dan Howell and Phil Lester, commonly referred to as Dan and Phil, came out as a couple with their latest YouTube video. The duo confirmed that they have been dating for sixteen years, ever since they first started making YouTube videos in 2009. The announcement came as a surprise for the YouTubers’ fans, who have since filled the comments section with overwhelming love and support for the couple.

Fans always had an inkling that Dan Howell and Phil Lester, who officially came out as gay in June 2019, through separate videos, were a couple. The duo publicly announced their relationship status on October 13, 2025, for their 2.9 million YouTube subscribers.
In the YouTube video titled “Is Phan Real? Dan and Phil Reveal the Truth”, the YouTuber couple finally let the cat out of the bag, thereby confirming all speculations about their relationship.
The viral video started with Dan saying, “Alright, let’s get this over with,” Dan, 34, began. “Are Dan and Phil in a relationship?” to which Phil, 38, responded, “Yes”. After making the shocking revelation that had everyone collecting their jaws from the ground, Dan jokingly said, “Alright, bye. Oh, sorry, you wanted more, did you? You want the juice? The tea? The blood, the tears.”
Addressing people’s long-term obsession with their relationship status, Phil admitted to it being partly their fault. The YouTuber duo admitted to falling hard and fast for each other in 2009, yet they never really put a tag on their relationship. “We just ended up living together and here we are”, Dan said.
Phil joked that they “technically” still aren’t a couple because they never officially said the words to each other. Having said that, they are “partners in everything.”
Showering their love for the couple, one fan wrote, “the longest slow burn in my life. I have to pay taxes now guys.” Another humorous comment said, “My ex broke a decade-long no contact over this”
