Meghan Markle reveals her kids are not too far from getting exposed to social media

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were awarded the Humanitarians of the Year Award on October 9. As reported by People magazine, the pair talked about navigating the challenges of the digital age.

The Duchess of Sussex shed light on how digitalization poses different kinds of challenges for parents. She added, “Luckily, they’re still too young for social media, but we know that day is coming. Like so many parents, we think constantly about how to embrace technology’s benefits while safeguarding against its dangers. And that hopeful intention of separation is rapidly becoming impossible.”

Prince Harry, then, talked about their Archewell Initiative, The Parents Network, explaining how it works to support families impacted by the online world. He added, “Tonight we’re all here together to focus on what remains one of the most pressing issues of our time…This is a pivotal moment in our collective mission to protect children and support families in the digital age, and we cannot do it without you.”

Harry spoke about how this movement needs to grow. With this, Markle added that when communities get together, change occurs. She said, “We know that when parents come together, when communities unite, waves are made. We’ve seen it happen and we’re watching it grow and with your support we’ll continue building a safer digital world for all of our children.”

The couple thanked everyone for standing with them as they did this “vital work,” and left the stage together.
