Glen Powell Gushes About Being His Dog’s ‘Father’ Figure

Glen Powell is powering up for his upcoming film called The Running Man, where his role resembles the father figure he is to his dog, Brisket. His character is an unemployed father trying to get money for his sick child, so he signs up for a deadly game. Talking about his fatherly instincts, Powell claimed that it comes naturally to him.

The 36-year-old actor will essay the role of Ben Richards, a father who takes part in a competition on The Running Man. To win money, he has to run while professional assassins chase him.

Based on Stephen King’s novel, the movie will see Glen Powell be a father figure to his on-screen daughter. However, while talking about the movie, he acknowledged how the role gave him a chance to play a parent, something he had never done before.

Powell told Entertainment Weekly, “I would say a big part of my identity, a big part of who I am, is that gear of feeling like an uncle, feeling and caring for my family to a monumental degree, in which it wasn’t a far stretch for my imagination of how far I would go for that little girl.”

However, the Anyone But You star soon realized that he had someone in his life who looked up to him as a father. He revealed, “I guess I am a father, I’m a father of Brisket. It’s not exactly the same thing, but Brisket’s my child of sorts; he’s spoiled better than any kid that I’ve ever met. And I would sign up for a murderous game show for Brisket for sure.”

This explains where Glen Powell has been channeling his inner protective instincts from: it is all his dog, Brisket, whom he had rescued a while ago. As for his character, he also shared that Ben Richards is an angry person. However, this is far from what Powell is as a person in real life. He described his patience as a “very long fuse” because it takes a lot for him to lose it.
