Jennifer Lopez ‘Absolutely Heartbroken’ Over Kiss of the Spider Woman Box Office Numbers, Sources Say

Jennifer Lopez is upset with the box office collection of her new movie, Kiss of the Spider Woman. The 56-year-old singer-actress stars as Ingrid Luna/Aurora/The Spider Woman in the film. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January this year and was released in the U.S. on October 10.

Jennifer Lopez upset over new movie’s box office numbers

Jennifer Lopez isn’t too pleased with the box office numbers of her new movie, Kiss of the Spider Woman.

According to a report by Rob Shuter of #ShuterScoop, the Latina star is “absolutely heartbroken” by the box office reception of her recent film release.

Inside sources are calling it one of the toughest blows of her long career. Lopez is reportedly upset about the film not meeting box office expectations. The film was made on a $35 million budget and was expected to open to big numbers.

However, according to trade experts and industry projections, the film might open to a modest $1.5 to $2.5 million. Lopez was counting on the film to be her big Hollywood comeback as a lead actress after a supporting role in the 2024 sports film, Unstoppable.

Inside sources remarked, “She poured her soul into this. She thought it would be her A Star Is Born moment.”

The film is adapted from the Tony Award-winning Broadway hit of the same name. Unfortunately, Kiss of the Spider Woman wasn’t very well received at Sundance. In spite of that, Lionsgate, Roadside Attractions, and LD Entertainment came on board for the distribution of the film.

Lopez also came on board as an executive producer on the film through her Nuyorican Productions banner. She promoted the film extensively across major print, broadcast, and digital media outlets. However, the early reviews for the movie are scathing and blunt.

An anonymous source reveals, “Jennifer feels like she can’t catch a break. Between the movie, her tour struggles, and the Ben drama, it’s been one hit after another — and not the kind she wants.”

However, Lopez’s well-wishers and inner circle insist “J.Lo’s a fighter” and that “she’ll turn this pain into power.”
