In the recent episode of “Late Night With Seth Meyers”, the “Blank Space” hitmaker shared an amusing anecdote about Travis Kelce. During the London edition of the Eras Tour in June 2024, Hugh Grant met Taylor Swift’s then-boyfriend, now fiancé, Kelce in the VIP tent. Swift mentioned that Grant’s wife, Anna Eberstein, also met the NFL player.
However, Kelce mistook Eberstein for Greta Gerwig, the director of the 2017 film “Lady Bird.” He then congratulated Anna on his favorite Gerwig film, “Barbie”. In this context, Swift said, “He loves Gerwig and also loves her movies; he loves her range.”
At the “Late Night With Seth Meyers“, Swift pointed out that, in one of their post-show routines, Swift and Kelce were on their usual car-ride debriefing. There, Kelce expressed his disappointment that the person he thought was Gerat Gerwig didn’t laugh at his “Barbie” joke. Swift recalled him telling Gerwig, “I love ‘Barbie.’ I am just Ken, too,” before he looked at Swift. Kelce said she “smiled politely but didn’t say anything.” However, after seeing online videos of Kelce and Gerwig “dancing all night” at the Eras Tour, Swift figured out the mix-up.
After this, Taylor Swift shared how she attempted to tell him the truth. She said that Kelce mistakenly complimented Grant’s spouse on her achievements for “Barbie.” Yet, the singer asked her fiancé to consider the possibility that Anna might have had to politely acknowledge his compliment, even though she didn’t direct the film!
