Francia Raisa is publicly shutting down rumors that she has fallen out with longtime friend Selena Gomez. The “Beyond Paradise” star, who donated a kidney to Gomez in 2017 during the singer’s lupus battle, spoke candidly about the swirling speculation regarding their relationship.

In an interview filmed just days before Gomez’s wedding, Raisa addressed claims that she confronted the singer over smoking after her kidney transplant.
Raisa told Univision’s Primer Impacto, “Right now what you’re asking me is nonsense… There are too many rumors.” She added, “When that rumor came out that I had gotten angry or something because Selena was smoking, I wasn’t aware of those rumors.”
She continued, “What you’re asking me are rumors. No one knows what’s going on, and neither she nor I are talking about it. One day, maybe we will address it.”
Raisa donated one of her kidneys after Gomez suffered from lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease she was diagnosed with in 2013, which led to complications such as kidney damage and required a kidney transplant.
Recently, fans speculated that Raisa was not invited to Gomez’s private wedding to Benny Blanco. While discussing the transplant, Raisa did mention the union, saying, “I know she’s getting married, and I’m very happy for her. And look… she has a life, and she is already a billionaire, and I am grateful that I could do that for her.”
Raisa and Gomez seemed to reconnect in 2023, with Gomez posting a birthday tribute to Raisa on social media. That same year, she attended Gomez’s inaugural Rare Impact Fund Benefit and told Extra TV, “We trauma-bonded, which is beautiful, but also it can get rocky and tricky. People grow, relationships change.”
