After dominating in the NFL for the past five years, things seem to be currently difficult for the Kansas City Chiefs and their star tight end, Travis Kelce. The Chiefs recently suffered their third defeat of the 2025-26 campaign, which also included Kelce losing a crucial matchup against opposing cornerback Travis Hunter. In the tussle, the three-time Super Bowl champion not only lost possession for his team but also saw the ball rattle his face as it got away from his grasp.

On October 6, the Kansas City Chiefs played their fifth game of the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars, which ended in a 31-28 win for the Jaguars. The two faced off during the game’s second drive, with Hunter assuming the responsibility to cover the 36-year-old tight end on third down. While many were expecting Kelce to win this battle, it was Hunter who ended up getting the better of his opponent.
The up-and-coming wide receiver not only neutralized Kelce’s threat but also induced a dropped catch to force a punt. The play ended with the ball hitting Kelce’s face, who seemed visibly shaken by the end of his clash against a 22-year-old Travis Hunter.
Since then, the snippet of Hunter’s triumph over Kelce has gone viral, with many social media users relaying their opinions on the confrontation. One fan hilariously made use of the players’ identical first names while reacting to the video, writing, “Travis won that matchup.” Another one caught on the same joke, stating, “Travis can play both sides fr.”
Meanwhile, one Chiefs fan defended Kelce’s failure to receive the ball by saying, “That was just a bad pass. If it had been on target, he’d still be running.” A fourth NFL fan shared a similar sentiment, noting that Kelce losing possession of the ball wasn’t entirely his fault. “Kelce beat him out right, he just didn’t catch the ball, not very impressive for our first round top three pick,” they added.
Having lost three games in their last five outings, the Chiefs will look to end their woes in their upcoming game against the Detroit Lions.
