Black Swan, Mr. Terminator Evicted From Town After Causing Havoc Among Other Birds

A Black Swan called Mr. Terminator has been expelled from Stratford-upon-Avon after the bird attacked the town’s famous population of mute swans, not once or twice, but multiple times. Notably, the Black Swan was a popular favorite for its black, regal look, making it different from the usual swans in the River Avon.

Black Swan’s behavior against other birds leads to expulsion from town

A Black Swan nicknamed Mr. Terminator was removed from the River Avon on Tuesday for terrorizing the town’s famous population of mute swans. For those unversed, Black Swans are native to Australia and don’t belong to the U.K.

According to a report published in The Independent, the Black Swan, originally named Reggie for its gorgeous black color, had been a menace to the locals for about nine months.

But that was not always the case. According to Swan Warden Cyril Bennis, who has looked after the town’s famous population of mute swans for forty-five years, the residents were initially excited to have a Black Swan in the city, stating it looked “so regal in many respects.”

The Black Swan, aka Mr. Terminator, became as popular as the famed English playwright William Shakespeare. However, the regal Black Swan soon began harassing the sixty other mute white swans of the River Avon.

Bennis expressed concern that Mr. Terminator started “muscling in on a pair of our residents with a young cygnet.” The bird displayed passive-aggressive behavior, such as physically attacking and trying to drown other swans.

Unable to withstand this any longer, Bennis revealed the town’s residents were forced to make a tough decision. He confessed heartbreakingly, “I was going to be damned if I did and damned if I didn’t,” with the final verdict being that the troublemaking Black Swan “needed to move on.”

Bennis safely relocated the Black Swan, Mr. Terminator, to the Dawlish Waterfowl Centre in Devon. Cyril Bennis compared the calm and serene atmosphere at the River Avon and Stratford-upon-Avon to a Shakespeare play. “It’s like a play out of Shakespeare—things are calm and just settling down.”
