Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs reached a historic milestone during their Monday Night Football clash with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The development centers on Kelce breaking multiple franchise records, including becoming the team’s all-time leader in all-purpose yards and points scored by a non-kicker.
Travis Kelce creates history in Chiefs vs Jaguars
Travis Kelce made history once again in the Kansas City Chiefs’ Monday Night Football matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
According to Arrowhead Addict, the tight end surpassed Dante Hall’s previous mark of 12,356 all-purpose yards, reaching 12,357 yards after two catches for 15 yards on the opening drive. This achievement made Kelce the new all-time leader in all-purpose yards in franchise history.
The 36-year-old, who celebrated his birthday a day earlier, also broke another franchise record during the same game. With a two-yard touchdown catch from Patrick Mahomes on third-and-goal, Kelce became the Chiefs’ all-time leader in career points scored by a non-kicker, surpassing former running back Priest Holmes. Holmes previously held the record after leading the league in rushing yards in 2001.
Throughout his career with Kansas City, Kelce has accumulated numerous records, including 77 receiving touchdowns, 12,151 receiving yards, 20 playoff touchdowns, and 2,039 playoff receiving yards. His latest feat at EverBank Stadium adds to a long list of milestones achieved since joining the team in 2013.
Mahomes’ quick protest during the touchdown play, arguing that JuJu Smith-Schuster’s rub route was within one yard of the line of scrimmage, led officials to overturn a pass interference call and allow the score to stand.
Kelce’s historic performance came as the Chiefs suffered a 2–3 start to their season following a loss to the Jaguars. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift, his fiancée, was 930 miles away in New York City, promoting her new album Life of a Showgirl on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
