Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson has surprised fans by releasing a decade-old video in which a teenage version of himself wonders whether he would one day become a successful YouTuber.
The clip, titled “Hi Me in 10 Years,” shows the young creator speaking directly to his future self, asking if he had crossed one million subscribers or was still making videos. He shared, “I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of YouTube, honestly. I think YouTube just runs in my veins at this point.”
Sharing the throwback video on October 4, MrBeast reflected on his success, admitting that his teenage self would have “laughed” at the idea of ever reaching 440 million followers. He added, “Back then, the biggest channels in the world had like 10 million subscribers, if that.”
MrBeast also opened up about the challenges he faced in his early days. He recalled being discouraged in high school, revealing that some teachers thought he was “mute” because he stopped talking about YouTube altogether. The creator also admitted to feeling “really hurt” when his classmates told him that “no one cared” about his videos.
Despite the criticism, the YouTuber said his determination and passion for creating content helped him push through the doubt. “I’m so glad that young me never gave up. I’m one of the most stubborn people on the planet, even now, to this day!” he said. The creator concluded with, “If no one watched the videos, I’d still be making them. I decided I was going to be a YouTuber or I was going to die. That was it.”
