MrBeast Fears AI Takeover of YouTube: ‘Scary Times’

Jimmy Donaldson, also known as MrBeast, has spoken out about the rise of AI-generated content on YouTube, stating that it’s becoming a significant concern for content creators. The YouTuber took to X (formerly Twitter) to discuss AI-generated videos, their impact on creators, and the platform.

Recently, MrBeast took to X to discuss AI-generated videos. He warned that when AI videos become just as realistic and well-made as the real thing, it could create problems for millions of creators worldwide. He wrote on X, “When AI videos are just as good as normal videos, I wonder what that will do to YouTube and how it will impact the millions of creators currently making content for a living… scary times.”

MrBeast speaks on AI’s impact on YouTube creators

MrBeast is one of the most popular content creators in the world. The 27-year-old racks up billions of views each year with his crazy challenge videos and heartwarming “helping people in need” content. However, he is now concerned with the proliferation of AI video tools and platforms, as anyone can create videos without actually putting in the effort. This, he fears, could hurt real creators whose livelihoods depend on these platforms.

This is not the first time AI tools have stirred up controversy. Earlier this year, MrBeast got himself in hot water with his AI thumbnail generator on Viewstats. It lets people make thumbnails that look just like other creators’ without asking. He said it was meant to help small creators create better-quality thumbnails, but the backlash grew too loud. Later, he pulled it and admitted he “missed the mark.”

MrBeast’s warnings about AI taking over content coincide with the launch of Sora 2. It is a new AI video tool that can create high-quality videos from simple prompts. Still, it’s already facing significant backlash online. Meta is also jumping on the bandwagon, having launched an AI-only feed for users who want to engage with AI-generated posts.

Even though MrBeast has raised a valid concern, not everyone agrees. Some, like business coach Charles E. Gaudet II, believe AI won’t kill original content; instead, the creators who learn to use it will actually thrive. Others argue that AI will simply expose the non-creative and lazy creators who rely on shortcuts.
