Eva Marcille Shares How She Almost ‘Died’ Filming Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test

Eva Marcille almost died during a water challenge on Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. The actress and reality star admitted the stunt nearly cost her life after she slipped underwater and had to be rescued by safety crews.

In the latest episode, Marcille and actor Jussie Smollett were paired for one of the show’s most extreme tasks: escaping from a plane submerged underwater. The recruits had to hold their breath for 20 seconds, find the correct exit, and swim to the surface.

Marcille successfully made it out of the aircraft but panicked once she hit open water. Moments later, she slipped beneath the surface, triggering an immediate rescue response. Medics rushed her onto a boat, where a shaken Marcille exclaimed, “Oh my God, I could have died!” Despite the scare, instructors confirmed she had completed every step of the assignment correctly.

While Marcille passed, her teammate Jussie Smollett failed the challenge by exiting through the wrong door. The Empire star was visibly upset afterward, taking responsibility for the failed pairing. “She did everything right. I messed up. I went out the back. She passed. We lost ’cause of my ass. I’m about to f**king cry, I swear,” he admitted before walking away, overwhelmed.

Because of the uneven number of contestants, Smollett volunteered to repeat the task with Olympic soccer player Christie Pearce Rampone. Unfortunately, he made the same mistake a second time, once again leaving through the wrong exit.

Marcille, best known for winning America’s Next Top Model Cycle 3 and starring on The Young and the Restless, bounced back quickly and even comforted Smollett. She reminded him that nearly 90% of recruits fail the challenge, urging him not to beat himself up.

Now in its fourth season, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test has become known for pushing celebrities to their physical and mental limits. Marcille’s near-death experience showed the very real risks behind the show’s extreme challenges.
