The much-anticipated Very Young Frankenstein TV series has finally announced the cast of its pilot episode. FX recently gave the pilot order for the show while also confirming the series’s star-studded lineup, including an MCU star and an actor from the Hangover franchise, who will feature in the series’s first episode.
Kumail Nanjiani, Zach Galifianakis, and four others to feature in Very Young Frankenstein pilot
According to a report by Deadline, Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani and Zach Galifianakis of the Hangover franchise will headline the cast of the Very Young Frankenstein pilot. The episode will also feature the likes of Dolly Wells, Spencer House, Nikki Crawford, and Cary Elwes.
Despite the confirmation regarding their involvement, it remains unclear as to what roles the said stars will play in the Very Young Frankenstein pilot. While the series will draw inspiration from Mel Brooks’ horror comedy classic Young Frankenstein, starring Gene Wilder and Peter Boyle, exact details about its plot are currently unknown.
Brooks will reportedly serve as an executive producer on Very Young Frankenstein, along with Stefani Robinson, Garrett Basch, Kevin Salter, and Michael Gruskoff. Aside from producing the series, Robinson will also serve as the showrunner for the FX project.
In addition to having Kumail Nanjiani in its cast, the Very Young Frankenstein series has another Marvel connection, with Taika Waititi also serving as an executive producer. Moreover, the Academy Award winner will also take on directing duties for the show’s pilot episode.
20th Television studios will be producing Very Young Frankenstein, which will stream on Hulu, should FX choose to green-light further episodes of the show.
