Tennis legend Serena Williams recently took to social media to highlight her grievance with a New York City hotel over their decision to use cotton plants as part of decor. She recently shared a video of the hotel where she was staying, expressing her displeasure in seeing the aforementioned piece of decoration at the establishment, all the while asking her followers’ opinion on it.
Serena Williams talks about cotton plant decor in NYC hotel
On September 25, Serena Williams posted two videos on her Instagram Stories in an attempt to point out the unusual presence of a cotton plant in the hallway of her hotel. In the first clip, Williams points to the vase holding the decoration before stating, “Alright, everyone. How do we feel about cotton as decoration? Personally, for me, it doesn’t feel great.”
The follow-up post sees the retired sportswoman pluck a piece of cotton from the plant and examine it. Williams quickly passes her judgment on the decorative unit, noting that it “feels like nail polish remover cotton.” She then gives a flushed reaction before walking away from the camera.
Notably, Williams had visited New York City to attend a SKIMS event, which also showcased a promotional film titled Bodies at Work. The advertisement highlighted Nike’s collaboration with the Kim Kardashian-founded clothing brand and featured a horde of female athletes alongside Williams, including Sha’Carri Richardson, Madisen Skinner, Beatriz Hatz, Romane Dicko, Chloe Kim, Jordan Chiles, as well as Nelly Korda. The Florida-born athlete commemorated the occasion by posting a picture of the event on her Instagram profile with the caption, “Nike gave me the wings, SKIMS gave me the fit — together, they gave us a moment. #NikeSkims”
In addition to the SKIMS event, Serena Williams also attended the Milan premiere of Gucci’s short film, The Tiger, in recent days. The former world No. 1 even took to Instagram to share her look from the premiere, which has since gone viral.
